Late Winter Update

No News is Good News?

Maybe so.  It’s been a few months since I’ve written an update here, mostly because it’s winter, and I haven’t travelled.  Usually I spend the early part of the year in Florida, just not this time.  The political climate there is almost untenable, so I’ve just laid low, planning the future.

I did make an overnight trip to Stratford, Ontario for the annual light show.  It’s held from December through January, and although it is quite spectacular, being outdoors in cold weather doesn’t agree with me.

I did book at stay at the Arden Park Hotel.  It’s located at the east end of town on the main street, but backs onto Queen’s Park.  It’s also walking distance to the Festival Theatre.  They granted me a good upgrade, to a large room with fireplace and jacuzzi.  It was a nice way to spend the evening.  They also do a fine breakfast in the on-site restaurant.

Now, I’ve just completed the work for my trip to Germany in ten days.  I arrive in Hamburg, move on to Bremen, and my final stop is Berlin.

Surprisingly, a ticket is required to access the dome of the Reichstag.  One must register first, and on approval the free ticket is issued.  An early morning ticket for me, followed by a day spent roaming Museum Island.

That’s where things stand now.  I’m off to Germany in ten days.

I had plans for this trip.  Big plans.  The trip is still going ahead (in four days), but plans have changed.  That’s what happens when you depend on others.  Disappointment, again.
